About

I will always remember the sensation I felt when flying over the Dampier Peninsula in Western Australia for the first time: Reaching their arms upwards from the rich, red earth were tree branches of pure white, and all that I could see was haloed by a spectacular rainbow of light. I could almost hear the ancient Psalmist crying β€œAll creation come and praise!”

For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by colour. One can learn something new about colour every day for a lifetime and still have only scratched the surface of all there is to know.

As an interior designer and colour consultant I help people work with colour in pragmatic ways, but painting is a way for me to explore the emotional and aesthetic impact of colour on our senses, and celebrate the many variances of Nature’s palette.

A local Brisbane girl, having only recently returned to painting after an extensive career in art and design education, my current work reflects my response to travel experiences – impressions and memories of place take precedence over perfect replication of setting.

Architectural forms and their relationship with the environment are examined through layers of perceived colour palettes and motifs. Trying to capture that first sense of awe and wonder at both the beauty of creation and the testament of manmade monuments, leads to a natural distortion in perspective and proportion.

I hope that my work may help others to see the world again through the eyes of a child – with renewed hope, positivity and gratitude.
